Cygnus Cross’ Action RPG “Emberville” Goes Into Early Access This Summer

by Sage Ashford

It feels like pixel art RPGs are a dime a dozen lately, but Emberville aims to be something new. Although the developer, Cygnus Cross, technically classifies it as a “farm and fight” game, it appears to take the “fight” part of it much more seriously. Even in this early access announcement trailer, it looks more like Diablo than most other titles of its ilk, offering more customization and more challenging boss fights to go along with it.

The title promises a fully voice-acted story, and with this trailer confirms both Doug Cockle (The Witcher‘s Geralt of Rivia) and Alex Jordan (Cyberpunk 2077) as key voice actors. Set in a procedurally-generated world. Players will venture into the depths of the prison known as the Vitromotus, an endless lock-up offering ever more powerful enemies to test out an array of weapons and weapon-bound skills. In players’ downtime, they’ll be able to return to Emberville, where they can help the villagers they’ve rescued, and customize their town however they want.

Emberville is launching in Early Access on Steam this summer.
