Comics Pro: Dynamite Announces ‘Pathfinder’ Omnibus

It was, of course, inevitable.

Dynamite has published Pathfinder comics for some time with fans asking about a collected volume. And ahead of Comics Pro next week, the company announced its plans for the 560-page Pathfinder Omnibus.

As they put it, “this capacious compendium packs together three core story arcs from the nearly 15 fabulous years of comics featuring the hit tabletop roleplaying experience from Dynamite.” Those stories include “Dark Water Rising”, “Tooth and Claw”, and “Goblins”.

The first comes courtesy of writer Jim Zub and artist Andrew Huerta. It sees the warrior Valeros relying on “his sword arm and his friends, including the mysterious sorceress Seoni, the quick-witted elven rogue Merisiel, the powerful wizard Ezren, the well-traveled dwarven ranger Harsk, and the courageous cleric Kyra.” Of course, that party of adventurers may still not be ready for what awaits them as “the scattered goblin tribes of Varisia are unifying in ways no one has ever seen before.” Zub and Huerta’s work in Paizo’s TTRPG realm continues with “Tooth and Claw.” In that tale, Valeros and his band are “tasked with tracking down a mysterious beast scaring the locals of Sandpoint.” But the hunt becomes more involved — as they often do — when “the Cult of Lamashtu seeks to exact its revenge on our iconic heroes.” The two stories comprise issues #1-12 of the original Pathfinder series.

The third storyline, “Goblins” was originally published as anthology series and saw contributions from the likes of Charles Soule, Ron Marz, Adam Warren, Erik Mona, F. Wesley Schneider, James L. Sutter, Crystal Frasier, Ray Fawkes, Carlos Gomez, Sean Izaakse, Craig Rousseau, Jeremy Holt, Eric Trautmann, Paul Allor, and others. Each story sees the titular creatures wreaking havoc across the land with their “unpredictable attacks, catchy raiding songs, hatred of dogs, and fear of horses.” All five issues are collected here, along with some extras, including “a short story and lots of RPG materials that fans can bring directly to the game night.”
