‘Lilo & Stich’ Take Control Of Their Own Dynamite Graphic Novel ‘The Stitch Book: Top Secret Adventures’

Lilo & Stitch are finally telling their story in their own words and pictures.

The lovable duo from Disney’s now-classic Lilo & Stitch spearhead The Stitch Book: Top Secret Adventures with the help of writer and artist Jeff Parker. Naturally enough, the title is being aimed at the child market with a plan for The Stitch Book to be an ongoing novel series. Within its fiction, Lilo dictates and Stitch draws stories at the behest of Cobra Bubbles, who needs their testimony for “strictly academic and procedural reasons.” The pair take up the opportunity to highlight “the day to day chaos left … as [Stitch] further gets adjusted to the idyllic island life of Hawaii, and learns the meaning of ‘ohana becoming closer with his found family.” The duo also profile supporting characters like Nani, Cobra Bubbles, Dr. Jumba Jookiba, Mr. Pleakley. Stitch, via Parker, also offers up “stylized depictions of surfing the Pacific waves.”

Clocking in at 208 pages, the book will be produced at 5.5 by 8.25 inches — dimensions better suited for child readers.

“As a big [director] Chris Sanders admirer and superfan of the movie, I’ve long wished I could have worked on the original Disney’s Lilo & Stitch,” Parker said.” The animation studio really knocked it out of the galaxy, and I think readers will enjoy us keeping the spirit of that alive. Lilo and Stitch may now have a very stable found family, but they’re still little chaos agents that upend life everywhere they go, and they go a lot of places in The Stitch Book.”
