August’s ‘Miles Morales: Spider-Man’ #1 Faces A New Challenge

He’s faced vampires, clones, killer AI and even world-ending cosmic beings. In August though, Miles Morales is about to face a completely unique threat in his superhero life — the past.
Coming August 12th, 2026, Miles Morales: Spider-Man returns for a new volume, headed up by writer Bryan Edward Hill, artist Nico Leon, and cover artist Simone Di Meo. This new volume of Brooklyn’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man will see Miles challenged in a way that will require the young hero to dig in to protect his neighborhood, and more importantly, his family.
Miles has been through hell and back, fighting threats personal, local and universal. Now he’s back in the classic black and red, and trying to find time to fit in his dating life and getting home in time for dinner. When a threat from his father’s time at S.H.I.E.L.D. rears its head, Miles has to jump into action to protect his family.
“I was really humbled when Marvel contacted me because Miles Morales is such an important character to people,” said writer Bryan Edward Hill. “No one knows, but I’m a huge Spider-Man and Spider-Verse fan, so I’m going all out here with new villains, new allies, thrilling action and a real exploration of that essential struggle of being a hero and maintaining a life connected to others.”
“Sara Pichelli opened the door to a new generation of comic book artists with Ultimate Comics Spider-Man, and being able to step into that lineage now is a real privilege,” explains artist Nico Leon. “Drawing Miles Morales in his classic suit, a design that turned iconic from the first second, is an opportunity you can bet I will not take lightly.”

I’ve really come to love Miles and his adventures. His stories have relied far too heavily on the multiverse though, so hearing Hill’s pitch focusing on Jeff Morales’ past is a great take for the young hero. I’m definitely interested to see what path he goes down.
