Dynamite Reveals ‘Ben 10’ #1 Second Printing Covers

As we reported yesterday, Dynamite’s Ben 10 #1 is a hit, selling out at the distributor level with a second printing on the way. Today, the company revealed a new batch of covers, including the company’s first exclusive cover for Diamond UK.
Robert Carey, artist on the series’ first story arc from writer Joe Casey, provides the new cover which also comes in a black & white variant as a 1:10 retailers incentive. The Diamond UK cover is also by Carey, and sees Ben placed in front of the logo. It will come with a black & white variant. A Blank Authentix variant will also be available.
As previously reported, the comic book series reunites Casey with his Ben 10 co-creators — Joe Kelly, Duncan Rouleau, and Steven T. Seagle — for an updated take on the original animated series. Set in the 2020s, it all begins with Ben Tennyson and his family “out camping when a meteor crashes nearby.” He soon discovers the Omnitrix at the impact site. It gives him familiar powers, but this new version of the origin will include an expanded scale and scope of pivotal moments, including “a range of ‘real world’” implications with “the military getting peripherally involved and a bona fide alien threat.” Subsequent arcs will be written by one of the other members of the Man of Action team with artists to be revealed later.
Despite overprinting when initial orders reached beyond 82,000 copies, the debut issue still sold out with fans of the series making their opinion known online and via their wallets. As we mentioned yesterday, the dedication of the fanbase was always there, but it still proved surprising with the numbers involved. It’s definitely cause for celebration, though, as the audience demonstrated, once again, how they keep Ben 10 alive.
The second printing of Ben 10 #1 will be in shops next month alongside Ben 10 #2, which is on FOC this weekend.
