Chuck Brown Orchestrates ‘Vampirella Vs. Red Sonja: Red City’ This August

Every so often, Vampi and the She-Devil with a Sword just have to tussle.

And in Dynamite’s upcoming Vampirella vs. Red Sonja: Red City, the iconic characters are pitted against each other courtesy of writer Chuck Brown and artist Paulo H. Mel. It picks up on the rivalry depicted in Red Sonja: The Superpowers, Vampirella: The Dark Powers, and the original Vampirella vs. Red Sonja. In those titles, the pair are recruited by The Project, but almost immediately find themselves in opposition to one another. Red City sees them “trapped in a melting pot of magic, vampires, and barbarians.” Recruiting super-powered allies like Dyna Might, they will have to “work together and escape this city of nightmares to get back home.”

“The art, plot, and settings of Vampirella vs. Red Sonja take the characters back to their roots in a melting pot of Warriors, Blood, Swords, Magic, and Bikinis,” Brown said in a statement.

The special is supported by covers from Sebastian Piriz, Diego Yapur, and Ivy Cosplay, who appears as both characters across three covers. Blind bag exclusive covers will also be available.
