Cult Anime Film ‘Tekkonkinkreet’ Returns To Theaters Next Week

Tekkonkinkreet is a fascinating film where the world of Treasure Town feels like a character in itself. Seeing as this is an R-rated anime film that came out in 2006, I can understand why it flew under the radar for many audiences. The character designs are sketchy and off-putting especially when compared to the more palatable characters from Studio Ghibli. However, now that anime is mainstream popular culture, longtime fans of the form may want to try something niche and unorthodox. In that regard, it is a wildly original film that’s not quite like anything else and has imagery that sticks with you.
Tekkonkinkreet will rerelease in theaters May 31st and June 1st.
