Review: ‘Is Ted Ok?’ #4 Finally Answers Some Questions

Writer, artist, and letterer Dave Chisholm uses a yellow hue to debatably help evoke a feeling of being sick from looking at the cover. This is a suitable sensation to enhance, especially when looking at the apparent lead villain of the series.

The narrative is continuing with a lot of revelations in this issue. At the same time most of the revelations are either getting half-answers or leading to other questions. Yet, the titular query still has multiple answers readers will probably only get by the end of this series. One thing that is now readily apparent is the fact that Ted is definitely more than a typical office worker. Although one scene may cause the creation of doubt about the narrative and its narrator. In the case of the former the scene might build suspense in the reader from the doubt. While the latter could result in curiosity regarding the narrator’s mental state to go along with the doubt.

There is not much new to say about the line work other than that Chisholm is maintaining the extremely high quality level. Nevertheless, one new thing about the art is that Chisholm is drawing a lot of complex scenes. Several of them display a mastery of breadth and depth that a page can have. Chisholm also does some special effects on select pages by using a combination of art and colors. One of them will likely gross out and horrify readers, while another should enhance the dramatic tension at the very least. However, the amount of impact of these effects could have on each reader will vary depending on the level of immersion they are experiencing.

Last, but not least, Chisholm is doing great on the lettering front. This is especially true when it comes to spacing out the word balloons to suggest people when are talking around the same time.
