Hammer Films Unleashes ‘Whoever Slew Auntie Roo?’ On Blu-ray And ‘Shatter’ Soundtrack On Orange Vinyl

Resurrected classic UK horror studio Hammer Films continues to mine its extensive back catalog with unique releases of rare cult items, available for the first time anywhere.
First up: the Blu-ray release of 1971’s Whoever Slew Auntie Roo?, a dark cult item from director Curtis Harrington and starring two-time Oscar winner Shelley Winters (The Diary of Anne Frank, A Patch of Blue). She plays a troubled US widow who has recently moved into her late husband’s UK estate. There, she meets a young girl with a striking resemblance to her late daughter. Obsession ensues. It also stars Mark Lester, Ralph Richardson, and Chloe Franks. Sporting a new high definition restoration, this is the first time the film has been released in any home video format. Available August 17th.
Hammer fans will need to clear some space on their record shelf for the limited release of the 12″ LP soundtrack to the 1974 action crime thriller Shatter. For the first time ever, the film’s score — composed by David Lindup — is being released in its complete form, restoring some 30 minutes of music, including alternate cues. Pressed on collectible orange vinyl, Shatter will be released July 31st and can be pre-ordered here.
Don’t forget Hammer’s previously announced titles, which will include 1958’s Dracula, 1971’s Murders in the Rue Morgue, plus a massive boxset of the classic X the Unknown.
