‘The Last Driver’ #1 Gets A Second Printing From Image Comics

by Olly MacNamee

That’s right, folks, Sean Gordon Murphy‘s The Last Driver #1 is the latest Image Comics’ debut issue to sell out at the distribution level and heading back for a second printing, wirth a new ciover by Murphy, too. Who was onhand to state the following about this success:

“I’m shocked it sold out! I just assumed most readers weren’t into cars, a grindhouse vibe, and books that you have to tip sideways. Instead of a cover, I’m going to do an Escape from NY homage, that way shops will be forced to buy even more. :)”

And here’s what this series is all about:

“As technology in America advanced, cities began creating the GRID: a robotic transportation system that not only made cars obsolete, it made them illegal. But an outlaw named “Clutch” has no choice but to get behind the wheel one more time. What starts out as a race to save his granddaughter’s life quickly turns into a rebellion against technology, fascism, and the future of a divided America.”

A cyberpunk action comic that’s described as a cross between Escape from NY and Vanishing Point.

The Last Driver #1, second printing is out on on Wednesday, 16th September from Image Comics.
