Wizards Of The Coast And Invoke Reveal First Gameplay Trailer For ‘Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons’
by Anton Kromoff
Welcome to the table,
Check this out…
Today Wizards of the Coast unleashed the first gameplay for Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons, an original third-person single-player action-adventure game, and it is mind-blowing!
The game is set in a dark fantasy open world game inspired by the lore from Dungeons & Dragons. Developed by Invoke Studios, it allows the player to take on the role of Kaatri, a veteran weapons master who makes a pact to wield otherworldly magic against dark powers. The lead role is performed by Tricia Helfer, a well-lauded and talented actor. In addition to Helfer, Maggie Robertson will be playing Tasha, Kaatri’s patron and easily the most iconic witch in all of D&D.

In the gameplay trailer above, we got an extended look at how magic allows players to reshape the world and transform environments, weather, and more into weapons to use against foes. This magic system seems to blend really well with the melee combat, and from everything seen here, it really seems to be providing a solid single-player D&D experience in a beautifully designed video game package.

I’m going to be the first to look a little sideways at anything that tries to put D&D into a box, even if it’s a really rad-looking one that lets me cast Eldritch Blast by mashing the X button. However, the fact that they are bringing “the” Tasha into this as the patron and the worldbuilding seems to be really curated, and not too sprawling, really gives me a bit of excitement about how this could roll once it comes out in 2027.

Another interesting note — recently, at GenCon 2026, we were shown just a little bit about the new upcoming D&D adventure Greyhawk: Crown of the Witch Queen. I bring this up because the villain of this adventure is none other than Tasah’s daughter. The connection between a upcoming video game and this new adventure is not lost on me and makes me wonder if my pals over at Wizards of the Coast are going to fold these two together into part of a “season” of play.
Until next time, who knows what the future brings, but right now everything seems to indicate that Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons is going to be something to keep my eye on.
