Vision Tries To Understand His Previous Self In ‘VisionQuest’ Trailer

by Erik Amaya

Get ready to see the word “Vision” a lot.

Marvel Television and Disney+’s upcoming VisionQuest sees Paul Bettany return as the wry and wonderful synthoid. But after the events of WandaVision, a question remains: is he really Vision? As mentioned in the trailer below, the revived android body contains the original Vision’s memories, “but not his virtue.” To find it, Vis has constructed a mind palace with all of the other Stark AIs to contemplate the differences and, maybe, regain the original versions’ humanity. But, as you’ll see, the remnant of Ultron (James Spader) may have other ideas.

Having visited the set of this series, I can say Vision’s mind palace is an extraordinary location and the personification of the other AIs will be highly entertaining. Additionally, now that the program is being pitched as the “epic conclusion” of the ideas shared between WandaVision and Agatha All Along, viewers of those programs will want to resubscribe or tune in. As teased in the trailer, there’s a young man out there with memories that are also not his own. Could he be the person Billy (Joe Locke) and Agatha (Kathryn Hahn) were aiming to find? And what happens if Ultron finds him first?

As I mentioned in a recent opinion piece about Marvel backing away from television, I know there can be the feeling of homework to some of these shows, but the now-dubbed WandaVision trilogy has been a highlight thanks to a mostly self-contained narrative about the Maximoff-Vision clan. Hopefully, this one will offer a real conclusion while maintaining a separation from the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. That said, I’m also prepared to learn that Vision will return…

VisionQuest debuts on Disney+ October 14th.
