NYCC 2026: Mattel Announces DC Premium With Two New Collectors Lines
by Tony Thornley
Revealed today at New York Comic Con, Mattel revealed the collector line of their upcoming collaboration with DC Comics — DC Premium. And to our surprise, the announcement came with the reveal of not one, but two new lines.
As revealed at the Mattel booth (video above taken by toy influencer Preternia), DC Premium Legacy and DC Premium Ultimate will be joining DC Premier as Mattel’s offerings with the DC Comics license. And naturally, Mattel bundled the announcement with the reveal of the first figure in the line — a full diorama box set featuring Batman as depicted on the iconic cover of Batman #608 by Jim Lee.
Looking at the videos of the announcement as well as IGN.com’s reveal of the figure and the figure listing on MattelCreations.com, it appears that Legacy and Ultimate are actually two sublines that will fall under the overall banner of DC Premium — more like Hasbro’s Marvel Legends and Maximum Marvel Legends, rather than Mattel’s own Masters of the Universe Origins and Chronicles. Legacy will be a more entry point banner, with collector level sculpts and articulation, but a slightly more limited number of accessories. Meanwhile Ultimate will have more accessories, wired capes, swappable hands and heads and more.
“We are incredibly proud to bring DC back to Mattel, marking an exciting new chapter with the debut of Batman: Hush,” said Nick Karamanos, General Manager & Head of Entertainment Partnerships, Action Figures and Preschool Entertainment at Mattel, in a statement. “We know there has been tremendous anticipation for this launch, and we’re excited to deliver what fans expect from a Mattel action figure — the very best.”
The Batman: Hush diorama is available for pre-order now at the link above. The set includes a new figure of the Dark Knight, with two sets of swappable hands and a wired cape. There’s also a Gotham City skyline backdrop, a rooftop with various pieces, and — probably the coolest feature of the set — a working Bat-signal. The set is priced at $100 and is set to ship by the beginning of April 2027.
