by Olly MacNamee
Over the weekend at NYCC, at the Energon Universe comics panel, Skybound, Image Comics, and Hasbro laid out some of the events and new characters coming your way in the coming months. Last year, Robert Kirkman introduced Elita Prime, Arcee Magnus, a new Superion to Transformers. And now fans will see Megatron becoming Megatronus Rex this Autumn, an issue spotlighting Beachcomber (Transformers #40) and, in March 2027, the Dinobots make their Energon Universe debut in Transformers #42.
Meanwhile, in Void Rivals, December’s issue — Void Rivals #37 — kicks off the “Pit of Destruction” story arc, “as Darak, Solila, and Pythona journey back to Cobra-La on Earth … but new dangers await”. Plus Lobotomaxx will make their Energon Universe comics debut in Void Rivals #40.

In M.A.S.K., series writer Dan Watters will introduce fan-favourite G.I. Joe characters in “Battle Force 2000” make their Energon Universe comics debut in M.A.S.K., as revealed on the cover to January’s issue #8, including an all-new, bionic version of Maverick “… but how does this connect to M.A.S.K. and V.E.N.O.M.?”
Finally, G.I. Joe will see Baroness becoming an agent of Cobra in January’s G.I. Joe #30.
