Image Comics Announces Japanese Supernatural Revenge Thriller ‘Innen’ One-Shot

Writer Robert Windom (M1: Monster Racing League) and artist Mirko Čolak (Spawn) have teamed up on a new one-shot telling the tale of vengeance set in Japan in the upcoming Innen from Image Comics early next year, with a main cover by Čolak and a variant covers by Jae Lee.

But what is Innen? Here’s the one-shot’s synopsis to explain more:

“‘Innen’ refers to an inescapable relationship between rivals. Set in Japan, Innen follows a young girl who witnesses her mother’s murder and becomes dead-set on revenge. When she finds an ancient helmet that turns the wearer into a warrior demon, murder and mayhem ensue! However, to quench her bloodlust, she’ll need to defeat her helmet’s karmic enemy.”

Spaking of working with Čolak, Windom said:

“I have been a fan of Mirko’s for a long time and knew he’d be perfect for a real challenge: a throwback to G.I. Joe #21, where the art has to say everything.” 

Čolak added:

“The absence of dialogue presented a unique challenge, pushing me to tell the story entirely through visuals, expressions, and atmosphere.”

Innen one-shot #1 is out on Wednesday, 20th January from Image Comics.
