by Olly MacNamee
Skybound/Image Comics and Scott Dunbier’s Act 4 Publishing have shared a first look at the Circus of Bones: The Art of Mike Mignola. Not only does it bring fans the official hardcover catalogue companion to the upcoming Mignola gallery exhibition in New York City for those unable to go there in person (i.e. most of us), but it also includes several new ink illustrations, 29 new pencil drawings and 53 brand-new watercolour paintings created by Mignola especially for this event, over 114 pages.

Those interested in a gallery-exclusive copy of the book can contact the gallery directly at info@philippelabaune.com. The exhibition takes place at 534 West 24th Street, Ground Floor, New York, NY 10011. The Mike Mignola: Circus of Bones exhibition will be on display from September 17th through October 24th.
Now, here’s a recap of Mignola’s many accomplishments:
“Over the span of his career, Mike Mignola has become one of comics’ most influential creators. Beginning in 1982 as an artist for Marvel and DC Comics, he evolved into a singular creative vision shaped by Victorian supernatural literature and European folklore. That vision culminated in Hellboy, launched through Dark Horse Comics in 1994, a landmark series that helped redefine independent comics and grew into the expansive “Mignolaverse.” Marked by stark minimalism, heavy shadows, and masterful use of negative space, drawing from German Expressionism and woodblock printing. His work is instantly recognizable, extending beyond Hellboy to cult favorites like The Amazing Screw-On Head and collaborations such as Baltimore, and earning him numerous Eisner and Harvey Awards while cementing his legacy as a defining storyteller of the modern era.”
Circus of Bones: The Art of Mike Mignola is out in bookshops on 4th November, 2026, and bookstores everywhere on Wednesday, 1st December, 2026.
