Misfit City, the new female character-oriented and Goonies-like adventure series coming up in May from Boom! Studios, is going to have a new cover strategy, according to Boom. Written by Legally Blonde and 10 Things I Hate About You creator Kiwi Smith and Kurt Lustgarten, with art by Naomi Franquiz, the comic covers for the first issue of the series will now have an added incentive ahead of the final order cut off date of April 17th.
The main cover by series artist Naomi Franquiz remains orderable as before. The “Movie Poster” variant cover by Ester Zejn is now open to order as well for normal retail price. But the “Treasure Map” variant cover by Paulina Ganucheau (Zodiac Starforce, Another Castle), will now ship as a 1-in-5 intermix in each of the main covers, meaning shops will receive one copy for every five they order of the Franquiz and Zejn covers.
So, the more main covers are ordered, the more special “Treasure Map” covers will turn up for fans.
Misfit City focuses on Wilder’s quiet hometown in the Pacific Northwest, a town where a kids’ cult adventure movie was filmed. One day she and her friends discover an actual pirate map drawn by “Black Mary” and they set off to discover adventure for themselves.
Along with this cover incentive news, Boom have also released some rather gorgeous interior colored art for Misfit City #1:
The first issue of Misfit City arrives on May 10th. It is currently listed in Previewsworld right here.
