All Guns Blazing – Unboxing Funko’s Marvel Collector Corps Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2
by Staff
With a swift landing, appropriate to a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 box arriving, Funko’s latest Marvel Collector Corps installment hit my porch. And this one has been highly anticipated. The box for the first Guardians film was really surprising and fun, and I expected no less this time around.
It started with a Baby Groot exterior:
And continued with a Groot-ish box wallpaper inside.
Our patch depicts Star-Lord, masked. And our pin features Gamora, pink hair billowing in the galactic breeze.
Our insider tips and highlights on the box’s content showed us sculpts and designs, as well as virgin art.
Our exclusive cover for Secret Empire #0, leading us into the new series from Marvel Comics, and here featuring Rocket and Groot rocking out.
And the bigger collectibles which really ramp up the appeal of the box, including a Star-Lord in the Milano Dorbz Ridez, and a Funko POP Rocket Raccoon with two guns, with tiny Baby Groot on his shoulder.
Looking at the Rocket Funko POP, look closely for tiny Groot in the upper right-hand corner.
Our sprightly Dorbz Ridez Star-Lord in the Milano shows off some of the colors from the new film, and also a lot of cheerful, if snarky, attitude associated with the Guardians of the Galaxy.
But the box wasn’t empty yet–it still contained an exclusive Funko POP t-shirt for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and again, the color scheme is an attractive one, with lavender and red-pink against black. The characters are also all leaping forward, which is a dynamic design and keeps the layout from feeling too crowded by trying to fit in too many different poses.
Coming up in the next Marvel Collector Corps Box, we have Spider-Man Homecoming, so keep your eyes peeled for reveals about the contents of the web-slinger’s box, too.
This Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 box didn’t disappoint, and I say that as a rabid Guardians fan. We received not only a Rocket POP, but one that included Groot, a nifty new take on Star-Lord and the Guardians’ vessel, a t-shirt that keeps the aesthetics of the films on point, and an exclusive comic themed to Guardians’ most beloved characters.
With this box, you’re all set for the film’s May 5th release date.
