We Can Expect A Graphic Novel Of To Kill A Mockingbird In 2018
by Staff
As many news outlets have been reporting, the literary classic by Harper Lee, To Kill A Mockingbird, will be forthcoming as a graphic novel in November of 2018.
According to The Guardian newspaper in the UK, the author’s estate has endorsed the publication. The graphic novel will be illustrated by Fred Fordham, the artist who worked on Philip Pullman’s The Adventures of John Blake: Mystery of the Ghost Ship.
Surprisingly, it seems that the estate approached publisher William Heinemann with the project, rather than the other way around. This could be seen as is in keeping with the moves the estate has made to publish a prequel to To Kill a Mockingbird, Go Set A Watchman, and also to open tourist attractions dedicated to Harper Lee posthumously.
This could definitely be a way to bring more graphic novels into the classroom in high schools and even universities, since To Kill a Mockingbird is core curriculum in many educational settings.
