UNBOXING: Lootcrate’s ‘Mythical’ Crate Channels Dark Fantasy

Lootcrate’s subscription box this month showed a lot of effort and thought for this spooky holiday season as well as tie-in elements to the debut of Stranger Things 2 on Netflix and the release this week of Thor: Ragnarok.

I knew I was in for an interesting box when I spotted both Ghost Busters and Thor and Loki in combat.

The t-shirt has an impressively 80’s design. You can’t get much more 80’s dance scene than those wavy lines.
Beneath those items lay an interesting Stranger Things diorama set.

Not to be overlooked, a Mr. Pointy bookmark, reminding us where much of our dark fantasy in pop culture hails from–the pioneering show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Our pin was suitably Halloweeny, too!

Here’s a look at both the Stranger Things and Thor vs. Loki sets assembled:

And the Lootcrate box this month also assembles into a version of Mjolnir, Thor’s hammer.
This box was an excellent value, with about 1/3 to 1/4 more content than I expected, and all satisfying in regards to what’s trending right now in late October.
