Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Review Space Horror Rules In Season 5 Preview
by Erik Amaya
Marvel’s Agnets of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns in December for a story filled with Kree enforcers, aliens that may or may not be the Brood, and Mack (Henry Simmons) reminding everyone about the dangers of finding yourself in a space horror flick. Well, at least that’s the way the season looks from this preview for the upcoming fifth season:

Though it seems that the team will be spending all year out in the wilds of space, it’s possible the show will continue to use the “pod” format which allowed the show to tell shorter stories surrounding a larger theme to get them back to Earth quickly. At the same time, I suppose that story arc structure still makes it possible for Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his pals to spend all year trying to get back home. Granted, since they’re on the run again back on Earth, they may not want to come home.
And while we continue speculating, I wonder if they’re already involved with the threat Black Bolt mentioned in the season (or series) finale of Inhumans. Presumably the thing Attilan was guarding against is related to the Kree. Or perhaps its even the Skrulls, as they’ll be an element of the Marvel Cinematic Universe fairly soon.
In the meantime, I’ll be thrilled to have Coulson, Daisy (Chloe Bennet), May (Ming-Na Wen), Mack, Yo-Yo (Natalia Cordova-Buckley), Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) back for at least one more season of Marvel’s most underrated television series.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns December 1st on ABC.
