Brutal, Satirical Sci-Fi: Preview VS #1 From Esad Ribić, Ivan Brandon and Image Comics

War has become a spectator sport.
Privately funded armies of superstar soldiers march into battle for fame, profit, and the glory of their sponsor nations. When a new generation of soldiers arrive, top gladiator Satta Flynn is about to discover how fleeting the limelight can be—and how punishing.

This coming February sees the debut of VS #1, a sci-fi series that promises to be both brutal and satirical from superstar artist Esad Ribić (Secret Wars, Uncanny X-Force) and writer Ivan Brandon (BLACK CLOUD, DRIFTER) with painted colors from Nic Klein (DRIFTER). Not only do we have a synopsis, above, laying out the broad brushstrokes of the narrative, but we also have a 6 page preview to see what you’ll be in store for. And, ahead of your sneak peek, here’s what Ribić and Brandon had to say about the series:
“Making VS is a dream. After all these years, it feels great to be able to create my own world and tech from scratch,” says Ribić.
And, the feeling is mutually reciprocated too:
“Working with Esad is mindblowing,” adds Brandon. “I want to live in this world. Probably very briefly, as it’s incredibly dangerous.”
