Joshua Williamson and Andrei Bressan’s Birthright is now a Universal concern.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the fantasy title published by Image Comics will be penned by Despicable Me scribes Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio for producer Robert Kirkman and his Skybound Entetainment. The company recently entered into a first look deal with Universal, where the project will be developed.
Birthright tells the tale of a family desperate to find their missing son. When a man appears one year later claiming to be their son, it begins an epic quests as he details the fantastical world he found himself journeying through. Five volumes of the collected comic book have been published so far with a sixth due for release in April.
The projects joins two others set up at Universal as part of the Skybound deal. They include an adaptation of Kirkman’s Invincible and a feature based on Christian Cantamessa and Chris Pasetto’s Kill the Minotaur; a modern-day telling of the Theseus myth.
