Legion To Return April 5th On FX
by Erik Amaya
The trials of David Haller (Dan Stevens) resume in early April as Legion returns for its second season.
Deadline reports the program will begin its sophomore season on April 5th, taking the 10pm slot on the cable channel. The first season told the tale of Haller as he attempted to get help for his difficult-to-diagnose mental illness. In truth, he is a very powerful telepath/telekentic mutant with an intruding consciousness lodged in his head. With the aid of friendly mutants at the Summerland Institute, he learns the true nature of that consciousness — another powerful mutant with designs on David’s power posing as his friend Lenny (Aubrey Plaza).
Based on the Marvel Comics mutant known as Legion, Legion blazed a very singular trail in its first year by remixing familiar X-Men ideas into a prolonged examination of life with mental illness. Consequently, it found a cult following very quickly.
When the show returns, a presumably healthy David will encounter a world which has gone mad while Lenny — or, rather Amahl Farouk — leads Summerland founder Oliver Bird (Jermaine Clement) on a perilous journey.
Legion returns April 5th.
