TVLine reports Ross Lynch will join the cast of Netflix untitled Sabrina The Teenage Witch adaptation as as Harvey Kinkle. Described as “the prince charming of this dark fairy tale,” Harvey is oblivious to the dark forces conspiring to keep him and Sabrina apart. Which makes him the perfect love interest in this re-imagining of Sabrina inspired by Hammer horror films and the recent comic book series The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. While Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka) faces the forces of evil and swamp monsters, Harvey will get to look cute. Although, one imagines he will learn about the darkness sooner rather than later.
Besides Lynch and Shipka, the series will also feature Miranda Otto and Lucy Davis as Sabrina’s aunts Zelda and Hilda, Doctor Who‘s Michelle Gomez, as Sabrina’s mentor Mary Wardell, Chance Perdomo as Sabrina’s British cousin Ambrose, Jaz Sinclair as Sabrina’s best friend Rosalind Walker and Bronson Pinchot as nefarious Baxter High principle George Hawthorne.
The show’s Greendale location was teased in a couple of Riverdale episodes in late 2017 when it seemed the program would be a loose spin-off of The CW teen thriller series. Shortly thereafter, development switched to Netflix with Riverdale‘s version of the town remaining just a punchline.
While creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa posted a photo of a script referring to the series by its comic book title, Netflix and industry papers still consider the series as untitled. It is unclear if Netflix will ultimately decide to use Chilling Adventures or go with something shorter and less pulpy.
It is also unclear when the series is expected to debut, but a late 2018 or early 2019 premiere seems likely.
