Colton Haynes To Return As An Arrow Regular In Season 7
by Erik Amaya
Though Arrow is not done with its moribund season 6 storyline, one key detail for next year has been sorted out: Roy Harper is coming back to Team Arrow.
According to TVLine, Colton Haynes will return to the show next year as a season regular. The actor played Roy from Season 1 to the end of Season 3 when his contract expired. Both actor and producers said at the time that this was always their intention; with Roy going into hiding and Haynes free to pursue other opportunities. He moved on to shows like Scream Queens, The Grinder, and a return to Teen Wolf as that series wrapped up its run. Haynes also came back to Star City for a one-off appearance in season four and a two-part story just a few weeks which ushered the end of Willa Holland’s regular involvement on the series.
In fact, that story ended with Roy and Holland’s Thea Queen agreeing to journey across the Earth to destroy the Lazarus Pits discovered by Thea’s late father Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman). It is possible the season finale will resolve that storyline and give Roy added impetus to rejoin the team?
And as it is, Oliver (Stephen Amell) could use the help with John Diggle (David Ramsey) leaving the team again and the newer members going solo after several heated arguments and one truly terrible fight. Perhaps Haynes returns signals a back-to-basics approach for the series after years of sprawling casts and obscure villains. Or, like Teen Wolf, he’s coming back as the harbinger of the end.
Arrow airs Thursdays on The CW.
