Pestilence Arrives In A Preview Of Next Week’s Supergirl
by Erik Amaya
As teased late in this week’s episode, the final Worldkiller, Pestilence, is making its presence known. And as seen in this preview of next week’s Supergirl, its wake is fatal and has ensnared poor Winn Schott (Jeremy Jordan). And while it is clear Kara (Melissa Benoist) will attempt to stem the tide of death, Imra (Amy Jackson) issues a dire warning — she is doomed to fail.
I am a little bit surprised that M’rynn’s (Carl Lumbly) condition was not tied to the arrival of Pestilence. But I suppose taking on a degenerative illness and the emotional toll it can take on father and son was enough story material all its own without tying to the Worldkillers. And when you have to masterclass actors like Lumbly and David Harewood giving the storyline life, it really is all you need. Tying it to Pestilence would offer a ray of hope the storyline is not meant to have. As always, J’onn’s family is marred by tragedy.
Meanwhile, I wonder if Winn really is short for this world? Considering we’ve already seen pictures of Brainy (Jesse Rath) without his turquoise complexion or fright wig, it is possible he will replace Winn. But that would be a sad fate for the character, particularly as Winn never met Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) over on Earth-1. Hopefully he’ll pull through and my dream support-staff crossover will happen.
Supergirl airs Mondays on The VW.
