Luke Cage Season 2 Trailer Reveals Bushmaster And Mariah’s Return

Netflix has unveiled a new trailer for the second season of Luke Cage offering a few more hints at the new storyline and a good look at Luke’s (Mike Colter) new adversary: Bushmaster (Mustafa Shakir).
Created by Chris Claremont and John Byrne in Iron Fist #15, the Caribbean crimelord eventually underwent the same process which gave Luke his invulnerable skin and heightened strength. He also attempted to gain more power and began to mutate while framing Luke, setting allies like Iron Fist and Misty Knight against him, kidnapping Claire Temple and, in general, making Luke’s life very tough.
Which seems like a good fit for the show. Based on the trailer, it seems Luke is enjoying his celebrity status when Bushmanster gets to town and, just maybe, getting pummeled so easily will remind him that celebrity has its disadvantages. Meanwhile, the trailer also gives us a hint of Mariah’s (Alfre Woodard) plans for Harlem and the first look at Misty Knight (Simone Missick) in action with her new bionic arm. And all that talk of sidekicks at the end suggests Iron Fist (Finn Jones) will have a key role to play by the end.
Luke Cage returns to Netflix on June 22nd.
