Tyler Hoechlin To Return As Superman In This Year’s Arrowverse Crossover

While Legends of Tomorrow will sit out this year’s Arrowverse crossover, Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) will return to fill in the superhero gap.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Hoechlin will reprise his role as Clark Kent and Superman from Season 2 of Supergirl during the three-part crossover which include episodes of Supergirl, Arrow and The Flash. But he is not the only citizen of Metropolis making their way to National City as Lois Lane will be joining him for the adventure. The part has not been cast, but with the crossover event scheduled for December, expect to hear about the actor playing Lois very soon.
Meanwhile, the story will feature the debut of Gotham City in the Arrowverse and the debut of Batwoman Kate Kane (Ruby Rose). For sometime, we have guessed the story will take place on Supergirl‘s Earth-38 and that the potential Batwoman series will also call that world home. The inclusion of Superman and Lois — and the exclusion of the time-traveling Legends — indicates Kara (Melissa Benoist) will host Earth-1 heroes like Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) for most if not all of the story.
Gustin told EW he is looking forward to “Flash and Superman together and to be one of the guys in the suits.” He added that he always hoped his Barry would meet Superman, but assumed that event would be reserved for the feature films like Justice League. But with Gotham and Batwoman joining the Arrowverse, it seems clear the notion of the DC Multiverse allows for multiple versions of the characters to exist at the same time across animation, television and feature films.
The 2018 Arrowverse crossover begins December 9th on The CW.
