The West-Allen clan will have one more regular face at the table in Season 5.
TVLine reports Season 4 guest star Jessica Parker Kennedy will be a series regular when The Flash returns for its fifth season in the fall. Kennedy played “Mystery Girl” in a handful of episodes this past year. The character was revealed in the season finale to be Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris’s (Candace Patton) daughter Nora. Traveling thirty years into her own past, she finally told her parents that she “made a mistake” and presumably needs their help.
Kennedy joins Danielle Nicolet, who plays District Attorney Cecile Horton, and Hartley Sawyer, TV’s Ralph Dibny, as new additions to the regular cast.
What has yet to be revealed is the identity of next season’s villain. Where season three set up a pretty big clue in regard to The Thinker (Neil Sandilands), the only clue toward season five’s plot is Nora’s “mistake.” Will time itself be their enemy as Nora discovers she somehow Flashpointed her own life? Come to think of it, the Time Trapper would make a fine opponent for Team Flash.
Alternatively, the show’s reliance on season-long antagonist has been one of its biggest faults, even if the show somehow stuck the landing with last month’s season finale. Perhaps Nora’s mistake will lead to a number of different opponents unleash by whatever she did. That would certainly be a change for the program.
