Riverdale Will Have No Link To Sabrina Series, But A Riverdale Spinoff Is In The Works

Though The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was original commissioned as a companion series to The CW’s Riverdale, its move to Netflix means it will not enjoy the same shared universe benefits as the network’s television shows based on DC Comics characters.
As it happens, Greendale, the setting of the Sabrina series, was teased during the second season of Riverdale, when it seems the two shows would share the same network, but as CW president Mark Pedowitz told reporters at the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Monday, there is “no cross connection” between the shows despite sharing a common universe. Considering Riverdale skews toward murder mysteries while Sabrina will feature magic, keeping their worlds apart may be for the best.
But there are other places the Riverdale gang could go in an extended universe. Pedowitz also told reporters, according to The Hollywood Reporter, that Riverdale executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is working on some sort of spinoff for The CW. “I’m waiting to hear what Roberto has in mind,” he said. “He has something in mind.
Riverdale returns October 10th on The CW.
