The next volume of the Runways saga will continue when the series returns to Hulu on December 21st.
But as TVLine points out, a few things will be different this time around. Instead of debuting episodes weekly, as the streaming platform did last year, the entire 13-episode second season will available to binge on release day. Another change will be the status quo of the series itself. Now on the run from their villainous parents, the group of powered teens, played by Gregg Sulkin, Allegra Acosta, Ariela Barer, Rhenzy Feliz and Lyrica Okano, move into a mansion buried under Griffith Park — a nod to the hostel the characters used in the Marvel comic book.
Also, the show will finally reveal a tie to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s place in the MCU has been questionable and the first season offered not one hint that it took place in the same world as the Netflix shows, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or the Avengers films. But executive producer Josh Schwartz told the site a “breadcrumb” will appear late in the season.
Considering Cloak & Dagger firmly established its MCU ties with references to Luke Cage‘s Misty Knight and companies like Rand and Stark, it makes sense for the program to finally declare itself in or out of that continuity. Not that the lack of MCU references made Runaways any less enjoyable. Its first season was quite good, even if it took its entirety to make the title characters runaways.
