As revealed at the New York Comic Con Daredevil panel on Saturday, Season 3 castmember Wilson Bethel plays Benjamin Poindexter, a character better known to comic book fans as Bullseye.
The streaming platform also promised to reveal “the origin story” of Bullseye, which is strange claim to make as the character’s past is somewhat malleable. Judging from the trailer, Dex will be an FBI agent until he is convinced by Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) to adopt the Daredevil identity as his own. It’s part of the Kingpin’s plan to completely humiliate Matt Murdoch (Charlie Cox) before delivering the coup de grace, but it may lead to unintended consequences as far as Dex is concerned.
In the comics, the character is a well-known assassin whose origins and even name are somewhat mysterious. “Benjamin Poindexter” is one of several civilian aliases used by the marksman, but it remains to be seen if his television counterpart is using the same sort of subterfuge.
Dardevil returns to Netflix on October 19th.
