Folklore-Laden The Source #1 From Scout Comics Gets 2nd Printing

by James Ferguson

Indie publisher Scout Comics has announced its recently debuted title, The Source is heading back for a second printing of the first issue. The series from the creative team of Don Handfield, Joshua Malkin, and Leno Carrvalho follows Bennett Miller, a high school teacher in East St. Louis who still lives with his grandmother. Trust me, it gets more interesting.

Bennett is approached after his class my a mysterious old woman named Ms. Putnam. She tells him that magic is real and he’s the one that’s prophesied to bring it back to humanity. The only problem is that it’s been outlawed for thousands of years by the ancient Few. This is a powerful sect who hoard magic to prolong their own lives and they’ll stop at nothing to keep it secret.
The Source pulls from true history, real legends, and actual folklore and myths. While the first issue has sold out on the distribution level, you might be able to find one at your local comic shop. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait until December to get your hands on the second printing.
