Alex Suffers From Lost Memories In A Preview Of Next Week’s Supergirl
by Erik Amaya
Supergirl returned from the winter hiatus with a status quo changing episode. Well, at least it is changed for the moment. To protect Supergirl’s (Melissa Benoist) identity, Alex (Chyler Leigh) agreed to have her knowledge of Kara’s superhero role erased. J’onn seemed to know what he was doing, but in this preview of next week’s episode, everyone discovers the unintended consequences of the plan.
Of course, this show has been about unintended consequences for awhile now. Consider Lena’s (Katie McGrath) plan to give conventional humans powers. That can only blow up in her face as metas run wild across Earth-38. Brainy (Jesse Rath) walks though a minefield of unintended consequences everyday just by working at the DEO. Speaking of which, it seems pretty clear that our suspicion about a rival agency will come to pass. The place is becoming increasingly crooked and it seems like Alex will not be able to maintain her position for much longer.
Which, in all honesty, is fine. The DEO served its function, but the show has moved beyond that. It just needs a proper send-off, though.
Meanwhile, this show could just be about Brainy and Nia (Nicole Maines) at this point. They’re charming together and recall the lighter part of Supergirl which used to make the program a long more fun.
Supergirl airs Sundays on The CW.
