Grayson And Stelfreeze’s Matador Gets Collected This May

by Olly MacNamee

When I met Brian Stelfreeze at last year’s Thought Bubble Festival, he was nothing but a gent. A rather quiet person, I think he was still rather stunned to the reaction, and crowds, he got throughout the weekend. But then, Stelfreeze is an artistic hero of many and its with great pleasure that I inform you that he’s back with Matador Vol. 1 written by by Devin Grayson (Batman: Gotham Knight), published by Image Comics, and collecting the six issue mini-series under one cover.

Matador is an explosive story pitting Lt. Isabel Cardona against a deadly serial killer in an edge-of-your-seat thriller that fans of Killing Eve and True Detective won’t want to miss. Dismissed as a quota minority hire by her work peers, Cuban-born and Florida-bred Detective Isabel Cardona makes no friends on the Miami force by insisting that a series of seemingly unrelated murder cases lead to an urban-legend contract killer known only as “The Matador.” Proving his existence soon becomes equal parts self-preservation and obsession—but how close to the dangerous Matador will Cardona have to get to make that happen?

In announcing this new collection, out May, it gives us the excuse to show off some of Stelfreeze’s amazing artwork in this preview. So, without further do, here it is now.

Matador Vol. 1 will be available May 22nd from Image Comics.
