Freeform has released a trailer for the upcoming second season of Cloak & Dagger, and it seems the already impressive show has upgraded for its sophomore year. Picking up from the end of Season 1, Tyrone (Aubrey Joseph) and Tandy (Olivia Holt) decide to use their abilities to help out around New Orleans — Tyrone definitely has the time as he is still on the run from the law. Their do-gooding puts them on the trail of a trafficking ring specializing in young girls. But they’re not alone in their search as Brigid O’Reilly (Emma Lahana) — aka Mayhem — has plans of her own for the people behind the kidnappings. It will put Cloak & Dagger at odds with their former ally … provided they don’t end up at odds with each other first.
If you haven’t given the first season a try, you definitely should. Joseph and Holt are really strong leads, Lahana makes a remarkable first appearance, and the series as whole uses the characters’ powers and the New Orleans settings in genuinely interesting ways. And while it is pitched at the younger Freeform audience, the show itself has a surprising level of sophistication. Although, it may not be that surprising to readers of Marvel Comics in the early 1980s; which also produced sophisticated stories aimed at teenagers and young adults.
Cloak & Dagger returns April 4th on Freeform.
