Explore Saffron’s Secret Origin In Firefly: Bad Company First Look
by James Ferguson
Boom! Studios is wasting no time digging into the wide world of Firefly. With an ongoing series and an impressive collection of older material under its belt, the publisher has revealed the first look at interior pages for the upcoming oversized one-shot Firefly: Bad Company, featuring the backstory for the fan-favorite character, Saffron. It’s written by Josh Lee Gordan and illustrated by Francesco Mortarino, Giuseppe Cafaro, and Moy R.
Before she was known as Yolanda, Saffron, or Bridget, she was a pickpocket on the streets of an Alliance planet, close enough to touch the rich and admire their wealth, but too far to dream of being a part of such a glamorous world. How did Saffron go from this wide-eyed kid to the extraordinary grafter and master thief known for wreaking untold amounts of havoc across the ‘Verse? This also ties into the bounty on Mal’s head in the current Firefly series, making it a must read for Browncoats.
Jeanine Schaefer, Executive Editor, Boom! Studios says:
Saffron is an enigma wrapped in a mystery surrounded by a puzzle, but at the heart of all the fake names and complicated lies is a woman who learned early on how to fend for herself and who knew that if she wanted anything in life, she had to go out and grab it. Bad Company takes us on an eye-opening journey through Saffron’s early adventures as we discover the daring escapades that helped the infamous YoSaffBridge craft each new layer of mystery and intrigue around herself to become the baddest woman in the entire system.
Firefly: Bad Company #1 will feature a main cover by Diego Galindo and a variant cover by Jamal Campbell. It’s set for release on March 20th, 2019.
