Rammstein Drops A Face-meltingly Good Music Video – Deutschland

by Tito W. James

My first introduction to Rammstein (Ramming Stone) was from their song “Du Hast,” which has become the anthem of my local goth scene. The band was formed in 1994 and over two decades later, the group remains intact and produces Gothic Metal music. Rammstein’s new, ambitious music video “Deutschland,” takes viewers on a 9-minute epic that synthesizes German history and folklore. The woman in gold is Germania; an embodiment of Germany much like America’s Uncle Sam or Lady Liberty.

Germany, my heart in flames
Wants to love you and damn
Germany, your breath cold
So young, yet so old
Germany, your love
is curse and blessing
Germany, my love
I can not give you

If you want to know what the hell is going on in the music video, I would highly recommend this video analysis by Metal Hammer.
