New Look, New Threads: The Legion Of Superheroes Return This September From Bendis And Sook
by Olly MacNamee
With the news that time was up for Geoff Johns’s plans for the Justice Society of America’s return to the DCU via the machinations of Dr. Manhattan in Doomsday Clock, as Scott Snyder and Jorge Jimenez plan to bring the old guard back this September in Justice League #32, we now hear that the Legion of Superheroes have also been taken from Johns’s hands with Brian Michael Bendis being announced as the new writer for an all-new series.
Although, it’s not all bad news as this re-introduction of the LHS will be a two parter and promises to be linked to Johns’s Rebirth plans. And, like Justice League #32, it should coincide with the final issue of Doomsday Clock, so maybe there is an synergetic plan for all of this after all. We can only wait and find out this September when Legion of Superheroes: Millennium #1 comes out featuring the artistic talents of Jim Lee, Nicola Scott and Dustin Ngyuen and more. Even better news is that this two-parter will lead into a Bendis scripted ongoing with the amazing Ryan Sook on art, who has redesigned the team’s look for this new take.
I’m digging their new threads, although Cosmic Boy seems to be dressed in the colorway of Timber Wolf and not the usual colours I associated with one of my favourite Legion members. Take a look for yourselves as we share the various characters costumes with you below.
Look out for their return, ahead off their announced new series, this August in Superman #15 from Bendis, Ivan Reis and Joe Prado. Out in August from DC Comics.
At last, it’s the return of the Legion of Super-Heroes! The greatest super heroes of the 32nd century have traveled back in time not just to meet the heroes who inspired them, but to make an offer…but to which hero? And why will that choice tear Superman’s life apart? Plus, the fallout from Lex Luthor’s conversation with Lois Lane escalates! What dark secret did Lex tell Lois?
