Clark Kent, Super Soldier: A Huge 20 Page Preview Of Superman Year One #1
by Olly MacNamee
One of the most highly anticipated series of the year finally arrived last Wednesday from DC Comics’ newly revitalised Black Label imprint and we have a preview of the issue that DC Comics have released. Written by Frank Miller and illustrated by John Romita Jr, it’s set in Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns universe and with this version of Clark Kent joining the Navy, it could go some way to explain the government lapdog we get to see in the aforementioned seminal series from the late 80’s. A man brought up to take orders unquestioningly and serve his country. Whoever’s in charge. Arguably, then, decades in the making and finally here. Check it out now.
From the burning world of Krypton to the bucolic fields of Kansas, the first chapter of Superman Year One tracks Clark Kent’s youth in Kansas, as he comes to terms with his strange powers and struggles to find his place in our world. DC Black Label is proud to present the definitive origin of Superman as rendered by the legendary comics creators Frank Miller and John Romita Jr.!
