Amazon’s The Boys In Line For A Second Season As Aya Cash Reportedly Cast As Stormfront
by Erik Amaya
Amazon’s adaptation of The Boys is on the cusp of a second season.
Deadline reports Aya Cash from You’re The Worst and Fosse/Verdon is in talks to play Stormfront in the program’s second season. The first season debuts on July 26th, but the site claims preparations are being made for another run of episodes. Amazon made no comment on Cash’s casting or a second season renewal, but the production realities of making television for streaming services seem to indicate it is more cost-effective to plan for two seasons upfront.
Based on the comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, Karl Urban and Jack Quaid star as members of a human vigilante squad who take policing superhero into their own hands. And in a world in which supers are more like sports celebrities or Instagram influencers, the Boys will have their hands full. But is it possible one of them is taking things too far?
The Stormfront in the comic book appeared as male bigot and white supremacist with powers toughly analogous to Shazam and Thor. Presumably, Cash’s take will maintain Stormfront’s racist affiliations and confront what happens when one of the most powerful superheroes on the planet is a Nazi.
Should Amazon renew the series for a second year, brace for it to potentially conclude as the streaming service pulled the plug on The Tick after it seemingly broke even with Season 2.
The Boys debuts July 26th on Amazon.
