Ghost Recon: Wildlands Launches PvPvE Mode ‘Mercenaries’
by Sage Ashford
Despite Ghost Recon: Breakpoint being only a few months away, Ubisoft has added another update to their older Ghost Recon game, Wildlands, in the form of a new mode called Mercenaries. Mercenaries will serve as an eight player, PvPvE free for all mode where players must fight to survive long enough to call and escape on a chopper.
The new mode will be split into three forms: first there’s Recon, where every player will start out with no weapons or gear and must scrounge for intelligence not only to discover weapons, but information on where the other players are on the map. Players will discover three transmitters to do so, and upon activation of the third transmitter Mercenaries will shift to the second phase.
The second phase will involve the helicopter actually heading to the extraction point that the first player to get all three transmitters summoned. During this phase others will still be able to scrounge for gear and transmitters, until the helicopter finally lands and switches the game to the final phase.
The final phase will involve successfully being extracted. Players will fill an extraction gauge by remaining in close proximity to the helicopter, except the helicopter will only extract one person, and they must be the only person in range, meaning all players are forced to fight to escape.

Completing a game of Mercenaries will grant players the costume of a certain “Lone Wolf” who may or may not be featured in the upcoming Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. More information on this mode and the potential rewards can be found on Ubisoft’s home website.
Ghost Recon: Wildlands and the new Mercenaries mode are both available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
