Insight Editions Explores The History Of Batman In All Mediums In New Book

Batman has transcended comics and exists in the larger pop culture zeitgeist. He’s one of the three super heroes the average person knows and that’s in no small part to the movies and TV shows he’s appeared in over the years. Insight Editions explores the characters vast history in Batman: The Definitive History of the Dark Knight in Comics, Film, and Beyond from writers Andrew Farago and Gina McIntyre. The book, due out in October 2019, features a foreword by Michael Keaton, a preface by Dennis O’Neill, and an introduction by Kevin Conroy.
Batman: The Definitive History of the Dark Knight in Comics, Film, and Beyond celebrates the character’s 80th anniversary in this deluxe volume, telling the complete story of Batman and the many forms he’s taken across comics, TV, animation, film, video games, and more. It features exclusive commentary from creators that have played an integral role in developing the Caped Crusader’s legacy over the years including Neal Adams, Tim Burton, Paul Dini, Steve Englehart, Mark Hamill, Grant Morrison, Julie Newmar, Christopher Nolan, Denny O’Neil, Joel Schumacher, Scott Snyder, and Zack Snyder.
This 400 page tome also dives into the DC and Warner Bros. archives for a never-before-seen visual journey through Batman’s history. These include photography and concept art from Tim Burton’s Batman and Batman Returns films and sketches, animation cels, and storyboards from Batman: The Animated Series and other cartoons featuring the Dark Knight. It also features a rejected 40-page film treatment from Batman’s co-creator Bob Kane from 1986 called The Return of Batman.
