John Wesley Shipp Confirmed For Crisis Return
by Erik Amaya
It probably comes as no surprise that The Flash actor John Wesley Shipp will return for the upcoming “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover, but his presence had not been confirmed until today.
TVInsider confirms the star of the 1990s Flash series — and a current Flash recurring cast member — will return for the December crossover event. It is unclear who he will play, though, as the actor has now portrayed Barry Allen’s (Grant Gustin) father Henry, Earth-3 Flash Jay Garrick and reprised his role as the 1990s Barry Allen (now designated as the Flash of Earth-90). Considering that last character managed to escape death in last year’s “Elseworlds” crossover, it is possible he will be the Earth-90 Barry again. And considering Shipp knows how to make a death scene work, it is also possible he will fulfill the Flash’s fated role in “Crisis.”
Shipp joins guest stars with deep DC cred like Burt Ward (Batman ’66) and Kevin Conroy (Batman: The Animated Series) during the crossover, which itself is inspired by the 1985 DC Comics maxiseries event that reshaped the DC Universe. Will it do the same for the Arroweverse? That remains to be seen.
The Arrowverse begins its 2019 returns on October 6th.
