Game Of Thrones’s Richard Dormer To Headline BBC America’s Discworld-Inspired “The Watch”

BBC America is betting big on Terry Pratchett.
The cable channel has commissioned The Watch, an eight-episode series based on the City Watch novels from Pratchett’s Discworld series. Game of Thrones’s Richard Dormer (the nearly unkillable Beric Dondarrion) stars as Sam Vimes, captain of the Watch while Adam Hugill takes on the role of Constable Carrot Ironfoundersson, a naïve human who was raised believing he was a dwarf. Other cast members include Lara Rossi as Lady Sybil Ramkin, a member of the city’s aristocracy who escapades as a vigilante, Marama Corlette as Carrot’s training officer, Corporal Angua, Jo Eaton-Kent as non-binary forensics expert Constable Cheery, and Sam Adewunmi as Carcer Dun, a wounded and wronged citizen looking to take power and “exact a terrible revenge on an unjust reality.”
Fan favorite character Death is also said to be part of the series, but it is unclear if the character has been cast.
The series is set to being production later this month with a scheduled debut sometime next year on BBC America.
