We genuinely love The Toys That Made Us. Both nostalgic and informative, the show takes an irreverent look at the toylines of the 1980s by utilizing archival footage, interviews with creators, and the viewpoints of superfans. It’s third season, our must-watch pick of Netflix’s November offerings, sets it sights closer to the 1990s with episodes focusing on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, My Little Pony, and wrestling figures. That last one is a curious choice as we remember those figures being static blobs of soft and sometimes icky plastic. Also, as no one brand dominated, we’re not sure if it will focus on WWF (now WWE) figures or expand out to things like G.U.T.S. That is the fun of this show, though, as it finds something interesting in just about every toy story — even if the Hello Kitty episode and the end of the Lego one felt more like a commercials.
November will also see new seasons of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, The Crown, and The End of the F***ing World. It will also see the release of some special Queer Eye episodes shot in Japan. But those those are just our picks for the month, take a look at the full list of everything debuting and leaving the service next month and find your own new streaming obsession.
