The Epic Rise And Fall Of The Trigan Empire Returns: Act Fast To Get The Limited Edition H/C
by Richard Bruton
One of the long-lost masterpieces of Brit Comics is coming back – and if you act now there’s a special limited-edition hardcover of the incredible The Rise and Fall of the Trigan Empire featuring art from Brit comics’ legend Don Lawrence.
The Rise and Fall of the Trigan Empire is one of those epic Brit comics sagas that has been in and out of print over the years, but in 2020 Rebellion and the Treasury of British Comics begins the job of bringing the entire saga back into print, fully remastered and restored. And it all kicks off in March 2020 with Volume 1, available for a limited time as a very special limited pre-order for the hardcover edition of the first volume, available to pre-order exclusively through the Treasury of British Comics webshop between 1st November and 4th December.
The book will feature that stunning Don Lawrence artwork, all taken from scans of his original artwork, and the first volume includes a fitting introduction from Liam Sharp (The Green Lantern) who, along with Chris Weston, was mentored by Lawrence in the early stages of his career.
The comic, co-created by Mike Butterworth and Don Lawrence, is an epic saga that effortlessly mixes ancient history, particularly that of Ancient Rome, 1930’s movie serials, and novels such as John Carter of Mars to create a wonderfully complex and enthralling science-fiction epic taking place on the planet Elekton.
The Rise and Fall of the Trigan Empire was originally published in the anthology title Ranger from September 1965, and continued in Look and Learn from June 1996 until April 1982, it found millions of fans across the world with its heady mix of political intrigue and Lawrence’s lush painted artwork, along with the beautiful artwork of those who came after him, including Ron Embleton, Miguel Quesada, Philip Corke, Oliver Frey, and Gerry Wood.
That it’s only ever received limited releases across the years in English is a crime, and one that the Treasury of British Comics seeks to rectify from 2020.
The hardback limited edition will be available for a very limited time for pre-order before publication in March 2020, when it will be published alongside a paperback collection of Volume one. Get on and pre-order it now before it sells out!
