Magneto Takes Center Stage In March’s Giant Size X-Men
by James Ferguson
Marvel Comics continues to expand upon Dawn of X, showcasing the new era of the X-Men. February sees the debut of Giant Size X-Men with a focus on Jean Grey and Emma Frost. It’s the first of a planned series of one-shots written by Jonathan Hickman and illustrated by an array of artists. The next chapter, debuting in March, centers on the master of magnetism himself, Magneto.
Illustrated by Ben Oliver, Giant Size X-Men: Magneto #1 finds the champion for mutantkind leading a mutant nation once again, but this time all of his kind, including the X-Men are standing by his side. Magneto is determined to make this new dream of Krakoa prosper, even if that means dealing with his former sworn enemy: humanity.
Artist Ben Oliver says:
It’s been many years since I last worked on an X-Men related project, and I couldn’t be happier than to be working with Jonathan. I’ve long been a fan of Jonathan’s work, and Magneto as a character, so to collaborate on this project is fantastic.
There are five planned one-shots for Giant Size X-Men. The first two look like a pretty big deal so I’m curious as to what the rest may hold for us.
