Publisher Gearbox and developer Counterplay Studios are working together to bring out Godfall, a new IP set in a fantasy universe intending to be a “looter-slasher” — that is, a game centered heavily around melee combat and a heavy loot focus. Not much is known about the game at the moment, other than it’s a third-person title which can be played solo or with friends in co-op.
The game is the first title officially announced for the PlayStation 5, but will also be coming to Epic Game Store on PC. There’s not much gameplay available currently, and the only real glimpse we got of it came here, with this gif:
Other than that, all we have is what we can glean from the trailer–a war, the need to avoid the apocalypse, and some fairly light-hearted characters. Counterplay doesn’t seem inclined to say much about the game … but that’s only a matter of time. Godfall will release next holiday 2020, which likely places it around November or December.
